Chapter 5Adding Target-Specific Documentation 1,Target Distribution 1,Guide5-6ni.comLinking VIs to HTML Files or Compiled Help FilesIf you link a VI to an HTML file or to a compiled help file, a Detailed Help link to that file appears in the Context Help window when you move the cursor over the VI icon. The end user can get more information about the VI quickly and easily by clicking the Detailed Help link.Complete the following steps to link a VI to an HTML file or to a compiled help file.1.Select File»VI Properties to display the VI Properties dialog box.2.Select Documentation from the Category pull-down menu as shown in Figure 25,5-1.Figure 5-1. VI Properties Dialog Box3.Click the Browse button.4.Navigate to the .chm, .hlp, .htm, or .html file you want to link to and click the OK button. The link to the file appears in the Help path text box.If the Help path text box contains a path or symbolic path, also commonly called a relative path, to a .htm or .html file, LabVIEW ignores the Help tag text box. If the Help path text box contains a path to a compiled help file (.chm or .hlp), use the Help tag text box in step 26,5 to link the VI to a specific topic in that help file.
